The village walk - 60km 3 days

Life is wonderful, so is nature. My desire to connect with the later made me participate in  CSY-10 Chinna Shoda Yatra organised by Pallesrujana from 28 Feb to 2nd March 2014 in Nalgonda Dist of Andhra Pradesh. We walked a pre-decided route connecting remote villages covering a distance of 15 km per day on an average.

What is usually expected of a retired Brigadier? consult on arms deals, run a security agency, run a factory or manage a business, relax in the comfort of the retirement benefits. But here was a Brigadier who turned out to be odd. The name also took me to the memories of the character Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart of the famous TV series  Doctor Who 1963-1989 who is on a mission to combat alien menaces that threatens Earth.

It was a pleasant surprise for me to discover this Brigadier. A glance at his tightly packed schedule for the day......for that matter for the rest of his life, amply testifies his anguish about the present state of affairs, wish to change it for good. The wish is supported by well thought out pragmatic plan which he executes willingly with a smiling face. He interacts at the same level as that of his talking partner, be it a highly aware senior citizen, a fresh college graduate, a school child, an uneducated villager. His vast experience is tempered with the lessons learnt from society. CSY is just one of the many strategies chalked out by Brig [Retd] Pogula Ganesham, VSM to accomplish the mission of promoting creativity at grassroots level. He founded voluntary organisation Palle Srujana and is directing all his energies in this direction.
